Hi,
I have set up a few luks encrypted internal partitions - one is automounted through crypttab but not all of them. My problem now is that Dolphin doesn't display those encrypted internal partitions (that aren't mounted) in "Places". However, I really would like to have them there as at least one of those I mostly use for Windows through FreeOTFE and I don't want to automount it all the times BUT on occasions I would like to access those files over Linux and I would prefer to do it through the GUI. Is there some misconfiguration or do I miss something or is this planned for the future..? Btw. I am using kubuntu 10.10 64Bit (so KDE 4.5.1). |

Hmm... I have now tried a different distribution (OpenSuSE) and there they are displayed. Does anyone know what they are doing different as I don't actually want to use that distribution (I just tried it out)?
Maybe this is related to the transition from PolicyKit to polkit-1 - OpenSuSE still provides both, whereas kubuntu only provides polkit-1 |

Sensitive as I am to even the most gentle criticism of my chosen distro...
![]() Have you tried Mandriva? I don't think too many people would shout at me if I said these two are generally considered to be the best distros for KDE. If you want to stick with Kubuntu then you are sort of back to a "scratch your own itch" problem here. You could research the problem and solve it, or present your findings to the Kubuntu maintainers and ask them to address it, or wait until it is automagically solved or something else, etc., but what's your antipathy to a distro that does what you want? |

This is likely a problem with HAL rather than PolicyKit/polkit. KDE uses Solid, which in current released versions interfaces with HAL to retrieve information. This information is then used to match Predicates ( rules to match hardware devices ). If they match, the device is shown, if not it is ignored.
