My point, it's meaningless warning.

You understand it perfectly.

It seems crazy to me that this hand icon give you such nitghtmares ^^

I think I made some pretty solid scientific arguments. :-)

I fear eventually I'll have to become a hacker... Where is the dolphin's configuration file?

Don't worry nickkefi, I understand how you feel. :)

I wonder what the option "Change pointer shape over icons" is supposed to do. If it is what I thought, it would solve your problem - it might be a bug somewhere that prevents it from working.

I made the bug report:

All of you vote up this minor bug, and I'll love you all. :-*

I voted up for this because if there's an option that doesn't work, it's a bug and because you made me laugh when you said "I think I made some pretty solid scientific arguments" ^^.
I wasn't aware there's a "Change pointer shape over icons" in kcm mouse module, I tried and whatever is the state, checked or unchecked, there's no difference... So what it is supposed to do ? :)

EDIT : this is on KDE 4.6RC2

I love this new feature in KDE 4.6! It definitely helps to let you know when/where you can draw a box and also that it isn't necessary to double click (which my girlfriend hasn't realized...but perhaps now that the cursor changes she will begin to catch on and save herself from RSI)

Only issue for me is that it doesn't work on the desktop for me, inside the folder widgets.

But still, great work! I understand some people might not like it, so an option is certainly nice for them, but please leave the default the way it is now as I love it!

I hate it too!!!! Dont worry, it is easy to change.

settings, configure dolphin, general, uncheck 'show selection marker' apply.

if it is already unchecked, check it and then aply and then uncheck it and apply. should do the trick, it worked for me!

fyi, you can also get rid of that butt-nasty blur in desktop effects.

NOo! I love the selection marker! It is extremely useful! The fact that this option makes the hand-like pointer to disappear, it's actually a bug. It should be controlled by the "Change pointer shape over icons" in the control panel.
