I deeply and completely hate the hand-like mouse pointer in dolphin (4.6) and I want to see it gone for ever.

What can I do?

Thanks and blessings in advance to those that care for my problem.

My feelings made my words meaning misleading. I hate it inside dolphin, I love it inside my web browser. It is a love-hate situation.

Thanks and blessings in advance to those that care for my problem.

Where exactly do you see the "hand" mouse pointer in Dolphin?

I don't know if it is just me, but when my mouse pointer goes through a folder/file it turns into a hand, as in links in web pages. (kde sc 4.6 RC2, one click to open files/folders). Any way to escape this curse?

Interesting, as I don't see that. Can you reproduce under a new user? If you can't, and you use an alternative application style, please try switching back to Oxygen.

I use oxygen, I don't know how to create a new user, and it's reported by others (http://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/ec ... ashdotted/)

Any way, if you don't see it, it probably changed back again. I'll wait for the final 4.6 sc

Thanks for your time.

There's an option called "Change pointer shape over icons" in System Settings (Input Devices -> Mouse). I'm not sure what it does since it doesn't seem to change anything here, but if I remember correctly I used to uncheck it to not get the hand icon. Maybe you can see if it's checked for you, and if that's the case, try to uncheck it.

I see the hand pointer too, although I don't understand the issue. The point is that the files and folders are supposed to be like links in a web page.

It is also important, for instance, when trying to draw a box (rubber band) around multiple files. You can start dragging the box unless you are on an empty space, and there is no way to know whether you are on an empty space unless the mouse pointer changes. Since using the hand is needed for basic functionality of the file browser, I can see why there is no reason to disable it.

What is the problem with it?

There is already the colored box around icons on mouse over to determine if its empty space or icon.

I is not a problem, it is a matter of taste, as it implies that the "normal" is double-click and if you use single-click you need a visual aid to warn you about it.

I don't find double-click in any way normal, and it was one of the happy surprises when I moved from windows.

If anyone knows any way to change it back, I please to help me.

True, but I still think it is helpful feedback.

Why does it imply that? To me it just makes web browsing and file browsing consistent. This is especially important on a program like konqueror where there is less distinction between the two.

Windows has supported single-click since windows XP, if not earlier. I always set windows to use single-click navigation. The difference is that it is disabled by default in windows.

Bullseye! I spend much of my time to pc without any Internet connection, and this behavior feels extremely out of place.

It may be a matter of taste, but please help me.

I now see the hand, it only appears when hovering over files. I believe this is the intended behaviour of Dolphin as it will do something if you click on it.

Hi,

It seems crazy to me that this hand icon give you such nitghtmares ^^
As google 01103 said, you can find alternative cursor themes on kde-look.org, some of them are not showing hand icons at all when hovering links.

But if I unterstand it well, it looks likes you want a specific icon when hovering links in webbrowser but you don't want it in dolphin, so I'm not sure I'm helping here ;x

you won't find me on facebook
