Dolphin: resize columns

Thu Jan 27, 2011 4:59 am
Hi.
I'm using KDE SC 4.5.5. When I resize a column in the detailed view, the setting is lost as soon as I restart dolphin. Is this the normal behavior? A bug? A missing feature?
Or there is something wrong with my settings?

Another thing: is this the right section, or should I've posted this in the "Other KDE software" forum?

This is unimplemented functionality in Dolphin. Please file a feature request/bug report at bugs.kde.org. I was able to reproduce this on KDE Trunk
Code: Select all
Qt: 4.7.2
KDE Development Platform: 4.6.41 (4.7 >= 20110106)
Dolphin: 1.6.9

According to Guided Posting (you can reach it by clicking on New Post on the index page) Dolphin posts belong to "Other KDE software", so I'm moving this post there. :)

I am a newbie, so give my thought pause, however, the thought occurred to me that this may be a change in configuration that requires root autority to become permanent. Perhaps an Admiinistrator will interrupt my post, but here is what I have done, when having exausted every information source, and as a last resort, I simply open with 'sudo dolphin' make the chosen change, then close dolphin. Making the change in 'root' might work, and I don't see how it could screw up the system. Regardless, you may want to check with the guru's on my idea before tryiing it. Hope this works if you try it.

In this case, permissions are likely not the issue in question. If the functionality to save the size of columns isn't implemented by the application, then it can't work.
