I opened the "tools" item on the Dolphin menu to "find" folders. The current Dolphin does not offer this choice. Has another application replaced this function? If so, which one? How do I find the path to a folder using a GUI such as Dolphin 1.5 or (another file manager), KDE 4.6.0, Meerkat 10.10? Is there an application where I can, for example, type in '.kde', and have it show me the path and location of that folder? Thank you.

You should use the filter panel. It offers most of the same functionality. If you want to use the original tool, just open the "kfind" application.

Thank you. I feel a bit foolish. The term filter did not occur to me. The reference to filter registered in my mind like that in emails or browsers and did not seem to fit in options for how I use my computer. You are very kind.
