Hi,

I have been trying hard to find a way such that a terminal emulator inside konqueror might have its directory following (automatically) the folder browsing in kde4 (just like it does in kde3). If there is such a way to do this, please let me know, yet my trials to find so were unsuccessful. That makes me stick to kde3, still... Maybe I am the only person in (strong) need of this such feature, it does facilitate my job. Otherwise, if this is not implemented, is there a plan to do so?
Thanx.

You can have an embedded terminal in Dolphin with F4.

Thanks Hans, for taking your time to answer.
I was not aware of this option in dolphin. Somehow it contemplates what I want. I should explore deeper the options in dolphin, I like the directory tree view possible in konqueror, but maybe dolphin can do the same. Anyway, SuSE still allows me to install konqueror 3, but I would prefer to stick to version 4.
Yours,
J.

You're welcome, feel free to ask any question you have regarding KDE. (I don't promise that I can answer them all, though. ;))

You can have a tree view in Dolphin (at least in a fairly recent version): View -> Panels -> Folders.
It's also possible to turn the main view into a tree view if that's what you want: Settings -> Configure Dolphin... -> View Modes -> Details -> check Expandable folders -> OK. Next, change your view mode to Details (usually the second "window" icon in the toolbar).

Hum, OK, I see, thanks again. Fine. This should be enough for me. Following your directions I could practically do as I use to have at konqueror 3. I use to prefer to leave the directory tree to take over the whole left hand of the window, such that my terminal emulator is totally underneath the area that shows folder contents. I could not find a way to do this at resizing, but with a kind of "dettaching" the terminal emulator to be able to resize it.

I have yet one other problem in kde4, but I had better start a new topic.

Gratefully,

J.
