How can i assign a shortcut to an action menu entry on Dolphin? I search the forum, and google it, but i can't find it.
In this post http://introducingkde4.blogspot.com/2008/11/plasma.html they mention that you can assign a keyboard shortcut to the previewer plasmoid action on dolphin, but didn't mention how to do it. Thanks Daniel G. |

Have you checked for the action in question under Settings > Configure Shortcuts?

Yes, and there isn't a configuration for that option. Apparently there isn't a keyboard shortcut configuration for any of the the actions menu options of Dolphin (i don't know if that's the name of the menu that show up when you press the right click on a file, and then select actions)

The menu you get on a right-click is called a context menu. You can just as well call it a right-click menu, if it sounds better.
![]() The article talks about a desktop widget that previews a file. I have the feeling it's referring to the keyboard shortcut that you can define in the widget properties...

I tried the keyboard shortcut in the widget properties, but that shortcut only shows the widget if you have it on the plasma desktop. But don't start the action you get when you select a file, and then in the context menu, actions, selects preview this file.

Yeah, I've installed gloobus-preview and managed to make it available on dolphin actions > preview. Now it's very confusing to have custom shortkeys to call that action. Any recommended workaround?

@aditia: Can you please explain where you set the "custom shortcut keys" previously? Are these accelerators (not global and can only be triggered when the menu is open) or is this a actual application / global shortcut?
Custom Shortcuts can be configured (including disabling or deleting them) in System Settings > Shortcuts & Gestures.

I haven't set custom shortcut keys, There's an action option if we right-click inside dolphin. And in dolphin settings > global shortcuts, there's no option to assign shortkey to action option. There's another project ROSA that implement klook for quick preview in dolphin, but it's used old dolphin version. I wanna implement dolphin to use gloobus preview which is more sleek IMO. So, maybe dolphin developer will kindly put shortcuts option for action in dolphin global shortcuts settings |

I'm afraid this is more difficult than it looks at first sight. The actions in the context menu are generated dynamically after the context menu has been opened (these actions can actually depend on which file type(s) is/are selected). From Dolphin's point of view, these actions do not exist at all if the context menu is not open, so there is no straightforward way to assign shortcuts which could invoke those actions outside the context menu, I'm afraid. |

Oh I see, well is there any plan for dolphin to develop quick preview by using spacebar shortkey? Just like klook or gloobus-preview in nautilus. I know by pressing f11 in dolphin we can get preview but still, quick preview is different things IMO. This is gloobus preview homepage http://gloobus.net/gloobus-preview/ Regards |

Is there a way then to modify a dolphin shortcut's command?
For example, Open terminal could open xterm instead of konsole... |

Dolphin uses konsolepart when you F4 and doubtful that the code allows substitutions |

The Dolphin has two shortcuts for the terminal - the 'Open Terminal' will follow the KDE settings .
