Hello!
This bugs me for quite some time now:
Why is dolphin not updating the directory tree when files are added into a directory (by other programs)?
I have inotify support in the kernel, shouldn't this work? Any plugin missing? On gentoo here, so my KDE is quite custom.
EDIT: I sometimes have to press reload 2 or 3 times until files show up...

what version if KDE? and which programs? There have been some similar bug reports https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?quicks ... in+refresh and I seem to recall experiencing this (might have bee in a 4.8 rc) but currently I can't replicate it.

Well, this has been for ages. Now still with KDE-4.8.

What type of file system is involved here?
The Linux Kernel inotify support varies from file system to file system - and especially has issues with remote file systems.

Well, probably it could be because of my locally mounted NTFS partition? I use it for data interchange with my windows installation.

does this only happen with your locally mounted NTFS partition?

This happens for me too with local ext4 filesystem. I'm using gentoo too.

Whoa, I can't even reproduce it correctly. Sometimes it just works like it should, but for example when downloading content with kwooty (nzb/usenet client), which extracts also, it is a complete mess... This seems even to be independent from the FS, reiser3 and ntfs here.

Yes, extraction is problematic on ntfs for sure. Will try later on a linux filesystem.

Hmm, I tested around a bit and basically I only have problems when kwooty downloads and extracts files. With 7zip and ark, files appear upon creation...

I have this annoying problem too with KDE 4.8.1 under ArchLinux, but I think it's been there many months already. I just got used to press F5 every now and then. Did anyone find a solution?

It still persists with 4.8.1 here. Cannot really see a pattern anyways...
