Hi,

I have a similar problem. I use gedit to open .rhtml and .erb files, among other types. It was working just fine. All of the sudden, when I try to access a .rhtml or .erb file, Dolphin opens Iceweasel, and then the browser displays a open file dialog suggesting gedit. The file type declared there is the one I manually set in System Settings -> File Associations for those extensions.
  • The file permissions are OK.
  • I ran kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental, then rebooted, no luck.
  • The folder .kde4 doesn't exists, nor any file in my home dir nor the other user's named mimelnk.
  • There are other file types for which the left click works, even with gedit, .rb for instance.
  • If I right click on the file and select gedit or any other, it works fine. I can set it to remember the association, though has no effect.
  • Changing gedit for kwrite, kate or any other also opens the browser.
  • On another account it works all right.
  • Strangely, with Konqueror left click works, so it's just Dolphin.
I hope somebody can help me.

Thanks in advance.

Ernesto.

If you open System Settings > Default Applications > Web Browser, Is "In an application based on the contents of the URL" selected? If not, try selecting it instead.
