kwallet resets wallet's permissions

Mon Jul 30, 2012 10:17 am
Hello,

I tried to share a wallet by moving the .kwl file to an NFS share and setting a link to it from two different users. I created a group and gave the group read and write permissions to the .kwl file. Every time one of the two users opens the wallet the group permissions are revoked.

I do understand that kwallet is supposed to store personal data and that rw------- is a sensible default for the .kwl files. What I did not expect was that kwalletmanager (or -editor?) changes permissions every time I look at it's contents.

Is there a reason for this behaviour that I just fail to see? Can it be changed?

kind regards,

Oliver

I suspect this is possibly because KSaveFile is used by KWallet. KSaveFile creates a new file, with specified permissions, and fills it with the specified contents. Once the write is successful, the file is moved over top of the old file.
