Hi there,
i'm looking online to solve my issues with Ark but found nothing. So let's go:
- can i extract some file without creating full path ? A little explanation about the second one. Let's say i have archivie like this:
And i would like to open archive in Ark, meanwhile go with Dolphin to directory foobar and then extract file named file4. So at the end i have just file file4. But now it's not like that. After i drag'n'drop some file (only one at once :/) i have something like ../foobar/Folder1/Folder3/file4 . That's not what i wanted, i need to move that file to foobar folder and then remove Folder1 and so on. Is there any way to configure Ark to work like this ? Most of the archive tools (GUI) works like that Thanks for any help ! |

a) Select files with Ctrl
b) You need to untick Preserve path... when doing extraction EDIT: for a) you probably meant drag and drop? Don't know about that |

Yeah i forgot about Ctrl, shame on me About b) i know i can do this via right click -> extract and stuff but is quite ridiculous. It's way easier to extract just using drag and drop from Ark archive view to some destination folder. As far as i can see there is no way to 'preserve path when extracting' to extract via drag and drop, not via Dolphin context menu. |

Hi, Ark maintainer speaking.
As mentioned, the current way to do that if you have configured KDE to interpret single clicks as selections is to use Ctrl. It is not very user-friendly, and at some point it would be good to behave similarly to Dolphin.
If I understood your issue correctly, I think this is Bug #208384, which has not been fixed yet. It gets tricky when you have to account for the different behavior of programs such as infozip and unrar. |
