Disable Automount of CDs/USB

Tue Oct 16, 2012 12:04 am
Is there a way to disable automounting CDs/DVDs/USB? I'm tried a few things and have scoured the 'net looking for a solution. It seems most people are trying to enable rather disable automount. I'm trying to get KDE into a work environment, but it's a non-starter if it can't be disabled.

Thanks for your help,
Steven

It is not really KDE which is automounting but the distro itself - pretty much every distro (even Arch) automounts these days... Which one are you using? Packages to look into include autofs, hal or udev...

It is probably either a UDev rule, an entry in fstab or UDisks which is executing the automatic mount. KDE also has an automounter - but in effect it just asks UDisks to carry out those actions.
