Using udevil/devmon with KDE

Mon Jan 28, 2013 10:47 am
Hello everybody,

I'm a happy user of KDE for a long time. I do not use policykit/consolekit on my system, either udisks.
I use udevil / devmon to automount my removable devices but they no longer appear in the Devices section of dolphin (solid-hardware lists auto.nfs or smb mount points in "udi = '/org/kde/fstab/*" but not removable devices).

Is there any solutions ?

thank you

In this case, you need to write a device backend for the KDE Solid framework, which is part of kdelibs.
Unfortunately, this will require recompiling kdelibs, as the backends are all built into Solid at compile time.

Alternatively, you could install HAL, which Solid does have support for (although you may need to recompile kdelibs with the appropriate options to enable the HAL backend).
