Hello KDE users,

have you got idea if there are any tools in KDE that allow you to index your collection of CD/DVD/External Drives so that you can search them later?
Something like 'Blue Mirror' [1] or 'WhereIsIt?' [2]. Tools that also ndex mime types, create date etc.

I tried CDCollect [3] but that somehow does not work for me as it does not support External Disk Drive.
VVV [4] seems to be absent in Linux distributions.

I can imagine that probably strigi or nepomuk can be put in good use for this task, but I don't know those technologies well.
What is your experience? So far I use txt method like :

find /mnt/usbDisk > usbDisk1.txt and then grep but that sucks a bit :)

instead of using the find command you can use Kfind or Dolphin's find (ctrl+f)

Not sure about indexing, but I know Tellico can maintain collections of data such as those represented by optical discs.

But the main issue is to be able to index the memory devices (files) and then search
for them later when they are not connected to desktop.

Kfind doesn't index, it's just a really nice frontend to the find command
