Searching for things in Muon

Mon Apr 08, 2013 11:10 pm
I cannot find a way to efficiently search packages in Muon. With kpackagekit finding and installing a package was a breeze. Muon is so intractable I find myself taking crash course in the use of dpkg and aptitude.

Case in point: how can I find any spelling dictionaries in Muon?

Dictionaries are usually contained in packages named "ispell-<lang code>" or "aspell-<lang code>" or similar, depending on the spell checker / dictionary backend in use by the application in question. KDE uses ASpell by default (although support for Hunspell is also available if support was compiled in by your distribution).

Penny drops: "Show technical items" checkbox makes Muon display good ol' packages.
