Inconsistent Screensaver function

Sun Jul 07, 2013 1:24 am
KDE 4.10.3 using open default driver on Dual 22" LCD Displays.

Settings>Displays>Screen Locker

Selected OpenGL>Euphoria default regular
Clicking on Test the patterns emanate from center and spans both monitors as one ever changing patterns.
Treating both monitors as one large display as expected and repeatable every time.

Results of automatically going to screensaver is a cloning of screensaver on two separate monitors.
Same exact pattern replicated on other monitor.

Occasionally get two different spawned patterns unique to each monitor.
And only once out of 20 runs did I see the expected of one pattern spanned across both on automatic.

Is this a known bug?
Thanks for any insights you have on the issue.

This is due to changes in KDE 4.10, with regards to how screen savers are run over multiple displays. This change resulted in each monitor getting it's own instance of the screensaver. As a result, the matching appearance on each screen is just a coincidence. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done to fix this i'm afraid.

Strange tho clicking on the test button and works as normal as one monitor.
So does that mean can assign different screensavers to each monitor?

Technically, I suspect the infrastructure for assigning different screensavers probably does exist. However, it is probably not possible at the moment.
The reason test likely works as it probably launches the screensaver in the original manner, rather than the new one.
