Hi, I tried to give a presentation today, and realised that there was no easy way to mirror displays any more! I seem to remember an old version of KDE allowed you to select "clone" or "mirror" or similar. I'm now using KDE 4.10.5 (Kubuntu 13.04), and it seems like there is no straightforward way to do this. It seems that the only way I can get close is to make both displays the same resolution, then drag them over each other. These don't seem to snap, so sometimes I don't get it quite right. Is there a simpler way?

in 4.11 you would use kscreen (not sure it is available in 4.10.5) see http://www.afiestas.org/kscreen-1-0-released/
update: just checked should be in the 13.04 ppa's

these may help:

Thank you for your help. I am indeed using kscreen under 4.10.5, and the latter two links did help.

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install kde-workspace-randr

restored the "Size & Orientation" panel, and now I can mirror displays! Thanks again.

As of kde 4.13.3 its very simple to mirror the display. In the "Display Configuration" tool accessible from "System Settings" size each window icon to the same resolution and then drag your computer's display icon on top of the hdmi display icon.

Hope this helps whoever it may concern ;D

Thanks for that vergevaliant19. I'm running KDE 4.14 and I can confirm that the snap feature works as expected.

(FWIW I'm on Arch now, and kde-workspace-randr (not sure what the package is called in Arch) is installed by default. I actually find these options easier to configure than kscreen.)
