I am at wits end. This is probably the third time I've tried to use KDE in the last few years (trying to get away from GNOME) and every time I've been forced to stop using it because of the wallet manager.
How do I stop it from constantly nagging me *and* store passwords? Blank password? Check. Uncheck "prompt when an application accesses a wallet?" Check. Er, uncheck? it's off. "Close when unused," "close when screensaverstarts," and "close when last application stops using it" are all off. IT. WON'T. GO. AWAY. Chrome is unusable. Browse amazon and it pops up for every item. The "allow always" button is a cruel joke. It's enraging. And to top it off, most of the results I find in google searches (that are painful because I have to always allow it always) are people blaming the end users. Right. I really would like to continue to use KDE, other than this I really like the desktop. I like things getting out of my way, but this is the ultimate cpu clock-block. Please. Help. It has popped up three times since starting this post. I just killed kwalletd to stem the bleeding. |

That sound very annoying for sure
![]() I can just tell that that's not how it's supposed to work -- it's fine here. Maybe something is screwed in your config? Did you try with a completely new user account, i.e. blank .kde4 directory? If it works there, we can surely figure out which file you have to delete to fix this issue. Cheers, Sven
I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.

I agree with scummos. That does sound very annoying and I do not have that issue. I've been using kde for over three years without issues like these.
The only app I use that brings up the wallet for me is Konqueror, but it's not as annoying as you described and I told it to use wallet. Anyway, I use OpenSuSE's kde implementation and it works great. It's better than kubuntu IMHO and you can install other options like Gnome, lxde xfce, etc. if you like to mix it up and the OpenSuSE devs are serious about integrating all desktops well like they do with kde. I know my port does not help you solve your issue, but it is intended to let you know that your experience with kde is not the norm. Rhongomiant |
