Hello,
I have some file.part1.rar, file.part2.rar, etc. When I extract these with Ark I get a folder for each part file, but actually it should be just one folder with all files merged. So is there an option in Ark I missed? Or are there other utilities available (in KDE / linux) to do this? |

a guess:
you could try other apps like peazip, xarchiver, file-roller what happens if in dolphin you hight all 3 and click extract (probably use ark but ....) |

OK, I found the clue is actually to NOT specify each part. So:
unrar x file.part1rar file.part2.rar file.part3.rar is WRONG (and doesn't work in unrar in ARK you get all the content 3x times....) CORRECT: unrar x file.part1rar or with dolphin/ark select only file.part1.rar and choose extract. HTH also others. |

Is Ark behaving correctly here, or is there a bug in the extraction of data?
To my knowledge, automatically accessing the other parts of a multi-part archive is expected behaviour from an archiver application.

Well, code wise I think it is behaving correctly. However there is no sane / "stupidity" check. Apparently. I didn't know this and when I looked around for my problem it doesn't seem I'm alone. |

While i'm not sure how practical it is to implement, you might want to ask the Ark developers whether they would consider adding a feature to prevent multiple extraction when the various parts of a multi-part archive are passed to Ark.
