For some reason after recent update ( Debian testing, KDE 4.11.8 ), ksysguard doesn't show anything for CPU and Network activity. It also shows nothing in Right Click > Properties > Sensors for both CPU and Network graphs (it lists some sensors for Memory graph, and that one works).

Is ksysguardd running in the background? Do memory statistics continue to work?

I see two ksysguardd processes running when ksysguard is open (is it supposed to be multiple amount?). When it's closed, there is only one ksysguardd running. Memory stats are continuing to work over time.

What was the update from? Was it a major or a minor version jump?

The two ksysguardd processes are probably because one is being run by Plasma Desktop (to provide for the applets it has which provide similar information) and one by KSysguard itself.

Also, can you check under a new user - just to rule out any configuration incompatibilities?

I tested - with the new user it works fine. So it must be some misconfiguration somewhere.

Can you try removing ~/.kde4/share/config/ksysguard* and ~/.kde4/share/apps/ksysguard/? If you have a particular custom configuration you'd like to retain, you can move them elsewhere instead.

Yep, that did it. I removed:
Code: Select all
~/.kde/share/config/ksysguardrc
~/.kde/share/apps/ksysguard/ProcessTable.sgrd
~/.kde/share/apps/ksysguard/SystemLoad2.sgrd

And it works now. Thanks for the tip. I think it could be caused by some system hangup. In general, I noticed that ~/.kde is quite vulnerable to cases when filesystem isn't synced before shutdown. A lot of stuff can become messed up (panels lost and etc.). Is there some way of making sensible backups / snapshots of KDE configuration, rather than manually copying things from ~/.kde ?

I can suggest making tarballs of ~/.kde*, ~/.config and ~/.local when outside KDE if you're concerned about losing settings or other data - in my experience though settings shouldn't get corrupted too easily.
