Dolphin unresponsive

Sat Jul 19, 2014 11:54 pm
i am currently using KDE 4.13.1 (under debian testing, x64). It is not only this version of KDE, since KDE 4 came out i've been constantly having crash & burn problems with dolphin. the dominant problem is this: i click on a folder to open, the icon starts to jump up and down, keeps it for a good minute then it crashes.
another more fatal one: if i have many things open as windows, the whole system crashes. i can only move the mouse pointer (can't even ctrl+alt+del) to no avail.

what is up? :-\

does it crash as an new/different user? conversly if you rename ~/.kde/share/config/dolphinrc and ~/.kde/share/apps/dolphin/ and ~/.kde/share/apps/dolphinpart/ does it not crash?

could you start Dolphin in Konsole and see if there any messages when it crashes

run Kdebugdialog and deselect all but Dolphin then restart Dolphin and after it crashes check the end of ~/.xsession-errors

does it crash for all folders or is there something particular to the folder or the partition on which it resides?
