Hello, its a wonderful day up hier in Scotlands west.

I need for an application (mtink) membership in the group lp.
Now I can not find the place to do this. It used to be in the System settings under User management. Has that changed with 14.04?

edit /etc/group - not sure about a gui for this one. Oh, and you have to log out and in again for changes to take effect :)

Hi and thanks.

Result:
root:x:0:
daemon:x:1:
bin:x:2:
sys:x:3:
adm:x:4:syslog,arran
tty:x:5:
disk:x:6:
lp:x:7:
mail:x:8:
news:x:9:
uucp:x:10:

What would I now to edit? Just ' :arran ' ?

And later, when I install my wife just ' assja ' ? Or could I do that already now?

Thanks. Result:
Code: Select all
arran@Arran-14:~$ kuser
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/50-user.conf", line 14: reading configurations from ~/.fonts.conf is deprecated. please move it to /home/arran/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf manually

What now?

Look at the adm line as an example. Ergo your lp line should look like

Code: Select all
lp:x:7:arran,assja
Add your wife's name once you've created her as a user.

I once had to deal with mtink for a friend. Is your printer set up properly in KDE? Have you selected the right port within mtink?
