I'm really interested in using Baloo/desktop searching better, but I'm struggling to find what I need to do that. So far I've found Baloo/Configuration and "Baloo" on the KDE wiki, but that's about it.

I'd most like to know what can be indexed officially, how what can be indexed might be extended.

I appreciate any pointers.

Can you define extending what can be indexed? Are you referring to types of files here, or locations that it indexes?

Types of files. Like say a mindmap file from XMind.

I would suggest emailing the kde-devel@kde.org mailing list regarding this. Extending Baloo in such a manner would require writing a plugin.
