I've recently been struggling with a minor keyboard issue and I'm wondering if adding the model to the list of models in System Settings -> Input Devices -> Keyboard -> Hardware -> Keyboard Model could help others.

The model of keyboard and mouse I'm using is Cooler Maser CMStorm. I got it because it's got pretty blue illumination and it makes me feel like I'm flying a spaceship when I turn the lights out.

The issue is that the illumination doesn't 'just work' for linux. Though I have found a magic command to make everything work as it should. But it's kind of a pain and I'm having no luck creating a script (so far) that would successfully run on startup so I didn't have to enter the command manually every time. The command by the way is

sudo xmodmap -e 'add mod3 = Scroll_Lock'

I get that it's likely a rarely experienced thing and so I understand it may never happen. But on the off chance it's super easy n stuff, where would be the best place to make such a request?

I don't think this is related to KDE, the list of keyboard models is probably provided by Xorg.

As for your command, you shouldn't need sudo to run it. Try to just create a new script,

#!/bin/bash
xmodmap -e 'add mod3 = Scroll_Lock'


make it executable, and add it to Autostart in System Settings.

Ok. Thank you. This time it worked.

Two things are possible. My system broke previously because I had used sudo and it was in a constant state of waiting for me to enter a password with no way to actually do that.

Or

I had not made the script file executable and that is what caused my system to break.

Either way it does not matter now because it's working. Thanks Hans.
