Hello, I have been using Kate for years as my preferred editor under Linux-Mint. At present I am at version 3.14.2 Under KDE 4.14.2. On and off in the past (and again now!) it only shows a greyed menu item for "recently opened files". This is kind of annoying. Of course I have set the options such that Kate should use the last session. I wonder what's wrong. Any ideas?

The "Recent Files" key in ~/.kde/share/config/katerc will be empty?

Either you clicked the "clear list" entry, there was a problem when writing back that file, the file was manipulated externally ("somebody" deleted it or there's a bug in kate.
