I'm note sure, because I use Kubuntu and not archlinux, and for me the package dolphin4 was already installed.

Some googling tells me that for Arch Linux there is a package called dolphinpart4. You could try and install it.

(maybe it's already installed. To check this, just open a konsole and type
Code: Select all
dolphin4

)

good luck

Oh yes, you are right. It was already installed. And it solves the icon and click issues. Only in dolphin, not in system settings for example where single click does not work!

yes, the same behaviour with a fresh account.

but when I tested the Kubuntu 15.10 live usb, it works as expected.

So I suppose that it should work if I installed from scratch after formatting the system partition.

therefore I think that the upgrade process is faulty on the system side, not on the user side...

I've spent hours on this, but still no clue. :(

These are deep bug, IMHO. For instance changing the icon style with kcmshell5 icons
doesn't do anything (dolphin, the panel, the systemssettings stay the same)
Ironically, it does have an effect on dolphin4, though ;)
And several icons are missing in the menus or i systemsettings (while I checked at least some of the icon files *are* present, for instance
/usr/share/icons/breeze/apps/32/preferences-desktop-keyboard.svg
should be used for "shortcuts" in systemsettings but is not). etc. etc.

Even stranger, changing icons via the "GNOME (GTK) application style" setting *does* change icons in dolphin, systemsettings5, etc. !
It should only have an effect on GTK apps !!

I might end-up reinstalling everything after formatting the system partition.

But this is my everyday work laptop, so this is not easy to do...

now, if I remove the packages

gtk3-engines-oxygen
gtk2-engines-oxygen

then *all* the icons (but 2) in systemsettings disappear !

(while kcmshell5 icons is set to breeze)

How it this possible ?

The KDE platform theme isn't installed or Qt believes you're not on a KDE session.
Code: Select all
env | grep -i kde
kf5-config --path qtplugins

For the latter paths, check whether any (and which) of them contains "platformthemes/KDEPlatformTheme.so"

Here is what I have:

Code: Select all
~$ env | grep -i kde
KDE_MULTIHEAD=false
KDE_FULL_SESSION=true
KDE_SESSION_UID=1001
KDE_SESSION_VERSION=5
XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP=KDE
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=KDE
~$ kf5-config --path qtplugins
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/plugins/:/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/plugins/

In fact none of these paths exist !
the last "plugin/" should be removed.
I have:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/
and
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/

and I have

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/platformthemes/KDEPlatformTheme.so

Here is my output.

Code: Select all
zab ~ $ env | grep -i kde
KDE_MULTIHEAD=false
KDE_FULL_SESSION=true
KDE_SESSION_UID=1000
KDE_SESSION_VERSION=5
XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP=KDE
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=KDE

Code: Select all
zab ~ $ kf5-config --path qtplugins
/usr/lib/plugins/:/usr/lib/qt/plugins/plugins/

Those paths do not exist in my system too.

Also, I have the same problems you mentioned above.

You must be right, at least it's clear now that KDE is using GTK settings instead of KDE settings.
(except for dolphin4...)

The second thing that is clear is that it's not a bad user config because it also happens with a freshly created new user.

So there is some bad system setting out there. Do you have any hint where to search ?

That's not a bad setting - the path was set "wrongly" at compile time (oc. you can set it whereever you want, you just need to ensure the files end up there ;-)
=> File a bug against your distro, I don't know whether there was an upstream change to the config system, but the path seems to be compiled to 'PLUGIN_INSTALL_DIR "/plugins/"' ever since.

Ok I will do this.

But maybe this is not the culprit. I have tried on the live USB, the paths reported are still wrong, but the system works as expected
(single click, icons, etc.)

Moreover zabrielzacob and I seem to have the same symptom while we don't have the same distro...

Yes, same symptoms in different symptoms, exactly. The strangest thing is that it happened without doing nothing. As i remember, but i am not sure if it is relevant i just installed infinality fonts.

Any updates on this issue ? I got exactly the same pb (Gtk theme used, no single click,...).

I'm on ubuntu 16.04, using Dolphin 15.12.3 and KDE Frameworks 5.18.0.
