Hello. I have KDE version 4.14.18. This problem first occurred a few days ago.
I have a folder widget on the panel. Clicking on the widget shows a list of files in a particular folder. Clicking on the file you want to open should result in the file being opened by the first associated application. In this case the file is a text file which is associated with Geany and two other applications, neither of which is Firefox. When I click on the text file now, the file is opened in Firefox. I have checked that Geany is the first application associated with text files. How do I remedy this? Any advice appreciated. I have already tried editing $HOME/local/share/applications/mimeapps.list, /usr/share/mimeapps.list and /usr/share/mimeinfo.cache. It is quite likely that further editing of those files may fix the problem and, if so, how should they or any other file(s) be altered? |

The problem has been solved. There were two instances of html code in the document. Once those were removed, the document opened in the text editor instead of in Firefox.
