I use KDE 5.26.0 on openSUSE Leap 42.2 and have enabled to start KWallet at startup and to show the icon in the systray.
Nevertheless, I still have to start kwalletmanager5 manually to get it started and see the systray icon.

And when starting kwalletmanager5 it also starts the KDE4 kwalletmanager, though I don´t know if I could safely remove KDE4 kwalletmanager, some old apps may need it.

Can and should I safely delete the kwalletmanager5 config to restore normal behaviour?

EDit I now used systemsettings to have at least kwalletmanager5 started automatically now
