Kate is really slow over FTP

Tue Mar 06, 2018 6:29 am
Hello!

I am using Kate and I really like its features. I need to use it over FTP. I start the FTP session using File Manager. When I am working with local files Kate works greaaat. But over FTP I have this problem: When I am opening a file by FTP, it takes around 5-10 seconds to open, then it is blocked for a lot of time, and after that I am able to insert a character (but I must wait for each, around 1-2 seconds to see it typed).

That is not happening with another text editor (like xed).

I am using Linux Mint 18.3 Mate, with Kate as my primary text editor and Caja as file manager.

What can I do?

Thanks!

FWIW I have the same issue.

Opening a text file from a mounted network drive opens correctly, but once opened, doing any change (e.g. type a character, paste test, delete text) results in a 2 second freeze before the change happens. The network drive is a google drive mounted using gdrive ocamlfuse (https://github.com/astrada/google-drive-ocamlfuse).

Using Kate 19.08.0 with Plasma 5.16.4 on Manjaro 4.19.69-1
