no sound device identified

Tue May 01, 2018 12:03 pm
Hello,
I face an issue related to plaid sound with my laptop (Asus).
Without any reason, the sound card seems to be not detected any longer at KDE start up (while it worked fine for years). Sound setting icon says : "no input nor output device found"
Hardware itself should not be involved, as sound is plaid normally under Windows 10 (dual boot config).
System journal warns about the following issue (that I can't understand) :
30/04/2018 11:10 pulseaudio [pulseaudio] module.c: Module "module-switch-on-connect" should be loaded once at most. Refusing to load.
30/04/2018 11:10 pulseaudio [pulseaudio] main.c: Module load failed.
30/04/2018 11:10 pulseaudio [pulseaudio] main.c: Échec lors de l'initialisation du démon
30/04/2018 11:10 pulseaudio [pulseaudio] main.c: Échec lors du démarrage du démon.

I tried to install again every "alsa" and "pulse" packages via package manager Muon. It didn't succeed.
Terminal command "sudo lspci" gives :
Audio device: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor HD Audio Controller (rev 06)
Audio device: Intel Corporation 8 Series/C220 Series Chipset High Definition Audio Controller (rev 05)

(hence sound cards are physically detected by system ?)

My config :
KDE 17.10
Plasma version: 5.10.5
Frameworks version: 5.38.0
Qt version: 5.9.1
version : 4.13.0-40-generic
type: 64-bit
processor : 8 x INtel Core i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50 GHz
memory : 15.6 Gio
Did not find any fix within documentation or forums.
I would greatly appreciate any help for understanding and fixing this issue (without re-installing the whole stuff, preferably...)
Thanks in advance.
Franz
