Currently running Kubuntu 16.04. After a recent update, Yakuake stopped showing up, even though the notification that it is running still showed up. I installed Guake and Tilda, and neither of those show up.
The problem is not restricted to a single user (still happened with a new user), however, it is restricted to the Plasma desktop. I installed Gnome and Yakuake (and Guake) does show up. I gave up, and tried a system reinstall from an old LiveCD for Kubuntu 16.04.1, and I kept my /home partition. After the full system reinstall, yakuake was working properly again. But after I updated all the packages and rebooted, the problem showed up again. I tried updating to Plasma 5.13, but again, no solution (however, Plasma 5.13 is absolutely gorgeous). Kwin does create the window. If I enable "Show Paint" in the Desktop effects and try to call Yakuake, I can see that Kwin does update the area where Yakuake could be. It seems that Yakuake is functional, since blind-running commands with long output (e.g. ls -lah) again shows that the window updates. If I run yakuake from the terminal, there are no errors when I try to call it. At this point, I'm totally stuck, and I don't know what to do. |

I have the same issue, I know yakuake works because at work (laptop) I can open it on both external monitors, but on the laptop screen it does not show up. However I know the app opens as I have to toggle it again to close it before I can open it on one of the monitors that work. Laptop is kubuntu 18.10
At home I have the same issue on my stationary machine, except that it will only be visible on 1 of the monitors, home is 18.04 with kubuntu backports. Versions on the laptop:
