Hello
When I save something on Kate, all is well. When I then want to save another file, also on Kate, Kate opens in the same window a second tab and so on into eternety. But this does often not help, and I prefer a new window per Kate instance. I have searched the manual and other sources, but can not find a way to achieve this. In other words, I do not want 1 sheet with X items, but I want X sheets. Is there such a solution? Thans for your reply.

If I understand it right, you want one kate window for one file, isn't it? If you want to open 5 text files, you want to get five separate windows of kate?
IF so, this might do the trick: Go to System Settings ->Personalization->Applications->File Associations. From the text section choose whatever the file type you want, let's say it's plain text. Click on it and on the right, where you see kate listed, click on it and hit Edit. In the new window, the third tab from the left it's Application. Where it says Command, change the -b parameter (or whatever you have there) with -u, so that the full line is "kate -n -U" (without the quotes). Hit Apply where needed and try opening the text files. Kate should open one window for each file. |

Alternatively, depending on how much of Kate's functionality you need in each window you could use Kwrite instead. Kwrite uses the same text editor component as Kate and and has a subset of the features, but is single-document only and doesn't have the plugins.
