ctrl+v stops and refuse to paste

Sun Feb 10, 2019 5:14 pm
Hi,

I have a strange issue. Somehow paste via ctrl+v is not working anymore. Shortcuts are OK, not changed, keyboard events are checked with
Code: Select all
xev -event keyboard
and everything is OK byt paste is not working :D Paste via shift+insert works but ctrl+(c/v) is more natural combination.

I read a lot of posts but I didn't found solution.

Identical problem on 2 comps:
Code: Select all
Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux
Release: Testing
Codename: Buster
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
Qt Version: 5.11.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0
Kernel Version: 4.19.0-2-amd64

where are you trying to past to? If it's the Konsole, this is the correct behavior, a right click in it will show you why... Copy-Paste doesn't have the same shortcuts in GUI application as in the command line

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Just paste, anywhere. Documents, kate, idea, new tab in browser. shift+insert works but I don't know why ctrl+v stopped and how to make to work as it should be.

exiting and relaunching Plasma didn't help? If not, could you please give some more information about your installation, namely distribution and Plasma version

Sorry, seems my cold clouded my vision. Do you remember any changes you made outside of the Plasma installation or any tweaks in the system before that happened? Works quite fine here for me on the same Plasma version.

Nothing is changed. My home comp was installed more than a year ago, laptop for business maybe more than 8 monhts. I do update every week. Something during update has broke something on both comps but I can't find what is. Both comps with same issue and I don't know what is happening :(

Strange is that I have a system backup from a couple months ago, I restore it, ctrl+v works. But, when I update system it breaks. Yes, there is some weird bug.

strange. Any non-KDE application or workspaces you have installed that could have triggered this? I really don't have a problem here, it works as ever, and this is a Plasma/KDE installation with just Chromium and Firefox as outside applications.

Idea for coding and some other tools but all apps are installed a long ago. Strange that update from my backup from january breakes paste. So, something is maybe in Debian not a KDE.

That is indeed possible, as I said: everything works fine here on the same Plasma version, how about reporting this to Debian?
