When I insert a bluray disc, the notifier shows me the following options:
Open with File Manager
Copy with K3b
Download photos with digikam

I'd like to create a new action 'Open with VLC'. I tried configuring the settings via Settings > Removable Drive > Device Actions. The problem is I don't know what to enter in the Parameters.

Any help?

The VLC should have device/solid action for the Blueray - added 6 year ago: https://github.com/videolan/vlc/tree/master/share/solid

So with the:
Code: Select all
$ vlc --version
VLC media player 3.0.6 Vetinari (revision 3.0.6-0-g5803e85f73)
VLC version 3.0.6 Vetinari (3.0.6-0-g5803e85f73)
Compiled by builduser on arch (Feb 11 2019 20:07:28)
Compiler: gcc version 8.2.1 20181127 (GCC)

& Plasma 5.15 there should be already:

There was some hickups with the paths when the KDE moved to the KDE Frameworks 5 - An example with the Debian (Aug 2016): please move Solid actions to the Frameworks location - https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=834884

Thanks for your reply.

The vlc-openbd.desktop does exist in /usr/share/solid/actions but missing in the Settings > Removable Devices > Device Actions. I don't think it was a problem with KDE Framework 5 as this is a new Archlinux installation and so I thought it might be some local configurations overwriting the ones in the /solid directory. In the end I decided to uninstall vlc, remove all user configurations and reinstall.

Now the 'Open with VLC' functionality is back in Device Actions as expected. However the functionality doesn't work. I insert a bluray disc and the notifier doesn't show the vlc option. It could be this particular bluray disc doesn't work with it. I have to test it with another disc. But maybe it can be a bug perhaps with vlc or KDE. It would be good to know if others have been successful with this functionality when inserting bluray disc.
