Is there any way to set up Kate to start with the cursor at the beginning of the document? What happens is that it ends up in the location it was at the last time the document was saved.

I am unable to reproduce this behavior and am wondering if it's just something I'm doing. Out of curiosity, what version of Kate are you using?

That's part of the window configuration, saved with the session.
You can enable/disable remembering the window configuration in Settings -> Configure Kate -> Sessions.

Hi Eric, using Kate 17.12.3 under Kubuntu 18.04.
