Is there a simple way to disable pasting text in Kate using the middle mouse button? Maybe I'm blind, but I can't find that option in settings anywhere... (there is an option "paste by mouse at cursor position" but turning that off does not disable mouse pasting, it just changes the location where the text is pasted).

I don't want to disable it globally (because it is generally a useful feature). I only want to disable it in Kate, because I use the mouse wheel to scroll through code and, with my cheap mouse and thick fingers, I often accidentally click the wheel and paste some text without noticing, and then I get compiler errors and it's all a mess...

Currently running Plasma 5.26.3 on Arch Linux (as of November 2022, the signature could be outdated by now).

Not quite. As I said in my post:

Is there really no solution to this, except completely remapping the mouse button and thus losing all middle click functionality in all programs? This is only a problem for me in a text editor.
