Hi!
I'm really impressed with KDE Plasma in general and Discover specifically! Thanks for your great work! 👍 I've installed Plasma on top of a minimal Arch Linux setup (pacstrap /mnt base linux linux-firmware grub plasma xorg-xinit networkmanager) and was delighted to see that Discover integrated so well with pacman nearly out of the box (just had to install packagekit-qt5). Discover works so smoothly that my question now is how it allows to install and update packages without root privileges. I suspect it has something to do with polkit but I'm curious how exactly you made it work. |

As I understand it, Discover makes a request to the polkit service on behalf of your user to be granted permission to run tasks with elevated permissions. Polkit uses various settings to determine if either the user can perform the task without requiring a password or if either the user or an administrator is required to authorize the permission grant and prompt for the password.
