Auto play DVD

Thu Mar 19, 2020 10:53 pm
I'm putting together an HTPC. "Solid" presents a very nice dialog asking me what I'd like to do when the DVD is inserted. A nice desktop experience, but not a good HTPC experience. When I insert a video DVD I'd like it to automatically run a script that will do two things: 1) play the movie 2) possibly rip the DVD (if I own it and have not ripped it before). I've looked at the Solid page a bit (https://github.com/KDE/solid). I've figured out how to configure what is presented in the dialog box, but no way to just run a script automatically. At this point, I'd be satisfied with just playing the DVD using VLC.

Any suggestion? Perhaps using some other device available notification hook?
