Hi here,

I am completely new to Linux, just transferred from windows 7 to KDE Neon.

I am taking a lot of notes of terminal commands in my KWrite file.

Is it possible to format those commands so they would look like something similar to how commands (Scripts) look like in askubuntu.com (or any stackexchange forum) for example and my notes would look a little bit tidier?

Thanks!

Do you want syntax coloring or visual style on specific block?

syntax coloring supported by default. if not, change your file extension. e.g. `filename.sh`.

As I know, visual block style on specific part is not possible on kwrite and most text editors. What you see on stackexchage site's article is just html page translated from user's markdown formatted input.

https://commonmark.org/help/

You may probably want offline markdown editor with nice preview. or some wysiwyg style markdown editor.

search 'linux offline markdown editor'

so does KWrite have any formatting options? which would allow me to format the code to make it stand out of the general text?

Yes. Almost all plain text editor does not support that.

sorry for my ignorance, but could you point out where I could find that in KWrite? It's second day I have been looking for it and unsuccessfully so far. Complete newbie

I see, sorry, misunderstood you there.

Do you have any recommendations for a text editor which would suit my needs in this case?

Neon is a fairly minimal installation and as you have found so are the text editors.
You could just install a word processor eg calligra words but obviously this adds to your system.

A possible option is to use an appimage which is completely self-contained and adds nothing to your original Neon installation.
Go to https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/ and have a look.
