Kate Random Paste Issue

Thu Jun 04, 2020 2:52 pm
I've been working with .plt files in Kate for GNUPlot. I've noticed an issue before this where my clipboard contents would get pasted into random parts of files open in kate. I noticed mostly when scrolling through data files, there would be extra lines and they'd look exactly like what I just copied to my clipboard. Now it has begun to seriously affect my productivity, so I'm seeking help.

How do I stop kate from randomly pasting?

example:

I pasted the file path, and something old from my clipboard randomly pasted below it:

I pasted the file path, and "Film and substrate peaks are labelled based on crystal lattice parameters." randomly pasted below it after "set lmargin 6". This happens to me constantly now. Clearing the system-wide clipboard from the task bar seems to help some, and not scrolling seems to also help. These pasted lines appear in places I never put my cursor.

System info:
Kubuntu 18.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.9
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.47.0
QT Version: 5.9.5
Kernel Version: 5.3.0-53-generic
OS Type: 64-bit
CPU: i7-6950X
GPU: Nvidia 1080 Ti
