Bup has gone

Sun Aug 16, 2020 3:28 pm
Hi, as bup has been removed from latest Debian based distros kup cannot be used any more without any notification. is there a workaround or any chance bup will come back, maybe ported to python 3?

I want to try kup but I miss the bup package, from terminal "The" bup "package has no candidates to install" so there is no repository how to install it then?

It used to be in the official repos but was removed from there in the latest Debian/Ubuntu releases. It seems to be based on python 2, which close to its end-of-life. So, let's hope they transform it to python 3.

here it says that the conversion of bup to Py3 is in preparation, but by the time it is ready, it does not say it and I would be curious to know!

Update: Just found out, that bup 0.3.1, which finally uses python 3, is currently under testing at Debian.
