Today I tried to connect my phone to my computer with a USB cable and I got two error messages in Dolphin:

The file or folder udi=/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-3 does not exist.
No storage locations configured
Could not enter folder /samsung phone

I have successfully connected my phone to my computer hundreds of times and I have not recently installed any software or made any changes. I tried to connect another phone and I got the same error message.

Any idea what would cause KDE to suddenly break like this or how I can fix the problem?

Hi

I am not sure what exactly your problem is but personally, I experienced a lot of trouble with Dolphin and Android phones storage.

1. Make sure you set your phone to "MTP" or "File transfers" after the USB cable is plugged.
2. Make sure all of your Dolphin instances are closed.
3. Open Dolphin.

If I don't do step 2 (closing all Dolphin instances), I can never access my phone's storage.

Cheers!

Given the details you supplied, there can be any number of issues here...
however in another post I suggest using gvfs
also... see if installing/using gmtp helps you

Hi FreeDim,

thanks a lot for your hint! I have to confirm: KDE neon 5.21.3 has still the same behaviour. I need to connect to my SONY XPERIA X5 Compact (F5321). When keepingt the three recommended steps in exactly this way, it works.

Kind regards,

This worked for me for some reason. Why is it that just closing the file manager makes it function well?
Weird

Thanks!

This works for me under Kubuntu 21.04 and 21.10, with Samsung Note 8 and S20.

For information the problem still exists on Kubuntu 22.04 (*)...

Fortunately, the workaround bellow is working :
