I would like to have Symbols for my groovy files, but file type groovy is not supported:

What I found out is that if I rename my file from cfn.groovy to cfn.java the symbol viewer works just flawlessly:

Is there a way to convince Symbol viewer to parse .groovy files with the Java parser?

So it seems this will require recompile Kate from the source.

Parse groovy files with the parseCppSymbols() - same as Java

I succeeded to recompile Kate from the upstream release/19.12 following:
Building Kate from Sources on Linux

But I fail to compile it with my local changes.
Either it reverts my changes to release/19.12
or it looses track of the dependencies for release/19.12 and ask for dependencies from master

:-(
