I cannot find any docs on the notation for filtering the displayed rows.

It looks like you can select only rows that contain a substring in the selected column or in all columns:
Simply type something in the filter, and the list will automatically be modified to only display lines which match your filter string.

Of course, console tools allows you to filter rows however you like:
