Is there a way to disable krunner? I know I can turn off the keyboard binding, but if you type while Plasma has the focus it still pops up. I am looking switching my mother's computer from gnome (gnoe 40 will just confuse her) to either XFCE or KDE. I will configure both to look very similar. The only issue I have is that I don't thing she will get the usefulness of krunner, and I'm afraid if she hits a key while plasma as the focus having it pop up will only confuse her.
thanks for any and all help / advise |

Unlikely, why would she accidentally hit Alt+F2?
If she already uses Gnome, why would she be confused about Plasma? Or do you just assume this will happen? You can disable the executable of krunner:
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give that a try. As for her getting confused, yes I am just Assuming she might, but she's 80 and having more difficulty with things so I'm just trying to make things as simple for her as possible to keep her as independent as possible.

So I came across this as well with my own setup. I want to use Ulauncher instead of Krunner. (its just choice) So System Settings --> Workspace --> Shortcuts --> Krunner Take the check mark off all the shortcuts. (I didnt delete the krunner as I may want to use it again some day.) Then in System Settings --> Workspace --> Search I left the Position on screen as TOP (because I have already disabled the shortcut.) Then i took out the check mark for every Available plugin below. This may not be the best way but I find it will not distract me from other keybindings I may use in future. |

Hi Mamarok, I disabled krunner, how do I enable it? Thanks Actually, I got it going, just opened dolphin as root, and checked the executable box in krunner properties. |

Removing the execution bit from krunner it is not permanent. Every update restore original krunner execution bit back.
I Removing the entire package plasma5-workspace-5.24.4-1.2.x86_64 it is too much. The point is krunner should not ran when I am using another DE but KDE. In fact, I am using Gnome that already has its own command line thing, krunner in this situation is redundant. Also, removing the shortcut ALT+F2 it is no good, as I still can see krunner running in background. am looking for a more permanent and smart way (on KDE, run krunner, otherwise no), any ideas ? |

Delete the key shortcut in system settings, shortcuts, krunner.
This realm's name is Maya. And she speaks Hertz. But Ahamkara makes a fuzz about it.
