Kate and Kwrite indented word wrap

Fri Aug 20, 2021 2:44 pm
Hi, I don't like Kate and Kwrite's indented word wrap, but I can't figure out how to turn it off. When I indent, I don't want the words to wrap around starting at that tab because I'm indenting at the start of a paragraph, so I want the tabs to mark the beginning of paragraphs. Subsequent paragraphs will require several tabs or a line without a tab, which won't stand out if I open the file on another computer that uses a different text editor. I only use a blank line to separate paragraphs when I change a subject.

You can change the indentation style in Tools -> Indentation.

Keep in mind that Kate and KWrite are not word processors, but text editors. The style you are looking for is typical for a paragraph start in a word processor, so I think Calligra and/or Libre Office are more suitable to what ou need.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thanks, but Tools -> Indentation doesn't seem to change this behavior.

I'll just use Featherpad unless I start quoting something in italics.
