I am using KDE Plasma 5.22.5, KDE Frameworks 5.85.0, QT 5.15.2, and Plasma System Monitor 5.22.5 on Gentoo running kernel version 5.10.61 and OpenRC 0.43.5-r1. I am setting up KDE on a new laptop, going through and configuring everything how I like it, and I wanted to fix a few issues I had on my old system. One issue was the System Monitor would not display the application table, instead just displaying the error message "Application view is unsupported on your system". I started digging into this, and found an error message when running System Monitor from the console that reads "qml: Implementation matching https://systemd.io/DESKTOP_ENVIRONMENTS/ was not found. ApplicationsView will not be available". This link goes to a page describing some standard in Systemd called "systemd.special", which seems to include an interface for collecting data on applications. I assume this is what I'm missing, but I'm not sure what this is called, so I don't know what to search for when looking for a potential OpenRC equivalent. Searching for the error messages hasn't turned up any useful results, though I did find the code in System Monitor responsible for the error message: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-sy ... ew.qml#L23 but I am not very familiar with qml and I'm not sure where the "appModel" variable comes from or what it is. I am trying to find the correct way to enable this feature in System Monitor using OpenRC if possible.
