Hi,

the muon package manager doesn't show the newest kernels, linux-image-5.13.0-40-generic and linux-image-5.13.0-40-lowlatency. Both are installed (via terminal) and the first of them is active.

How can I bring Muon up to date?

Muon is getting crusty and old, unfortunately.
Its Xapian index is probably out of date for some reason. You can update it manually:
Code: Select all
sudo update-apt-xapian-index

thank you for your answer. But I have to update my question: Muon shows the installed kernel if I choose kernels and modules in the menu at the right side and scroll down.

Not working is the search funktion: before, I tried to find the kernel with the search word "linux-image". If I do this, the *-40 kernel disappears and some others too. It's a strange behaviour. Without search word in the search field it shows all. With just "l" nothing changes. With "li" all disappears, Muon is showing nothing. With "lin" all comes back except the *-40 kernels.

Will your cure fix this also?

It shows up for me.

Muon is old and unmaintained, with no updates in many years now. I'd suggest looking at Synaptic, which does not use Xapian, and has far fewer bugs like this.

works. I already thought about giving synaptic a chance but didn't do it because I considered muon being better integrated in KDE than Synaptic.

Thanks for your tips.

Looks over functionality and stability, then? xD
There is nothing in KDE for either tool to 'integrate' into, as all these do are manage Debian and Ubuntu packaging

I didn' t think about the look. I see I can use them both, muon and synaptic, so I can compare. Yes, you are right, the look of synaptic is basic... ;)
