Is my system. I recently did a fresh install of Manjaro Stable on a new WD Black M2 SSD and imported things like Documents, Videos, Pictures and Downloads from the old spinning drive. I imported none of the confuguration files from akonadi or Plasma., prefering to configure everything by hand. The original installation on the spinning drive is 4 years old. After manually configuring the desktop andafter one Stable update I am now having problems with being able to launch the application launcher from a screen edge. The launcher I use is "Application Dashboard", one of the alternatives that appears when right clicking the widget in the panel. I have used Application Dashboard activated by one of the screen edge settings from /System Settings/Workspace Behavior/Screen Edges. This has worked both historically on the spinning drive and since the reinstall on the M2. I use the left edge on the primary (left) monitor in a 2 monitor setup and have used it this way for a number of years...hitting the left edge of the left monitor launches the Application Dashboard. This no longer functions. If I select anything other than "Application Launcher" in the selection on /Screen Edges then whatever else I select launches or activates from hitting the left edge no problem. All of the other edges work with all of the different settings other than Application Launcher. Also if I select another application launcher from the widget in the panel and try to launch what i have selected, nothing. It makes no dfference which of the alternatives I select it seems like its not possible to launch "Application Launcher" from any screen edge. Everything works from the panel widget.

I have read a number of things here including this thread
viewtopic.php?f=66&t=174919&p=455047&hilit=applications+launcher+problems#p455047

In addition with help from others I have attempted to reset Plasma settings by , from a terminal executing
sudo systemctl stop display-manager.service
find $HOME/.config/ -maxdepth 1 -name 'plasma*' -exec rm {} \;
rm -rf ~/.cache/*
systemctl reboot

This cleared another problem I was having with the panel remembering settings from boot to boot but did not resolve the launcher/screen edge problem that I am posting about here. Any help or suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

Many thanks.

EDIT
I have gone back and looked at some notes I made earlier today. I was changing the global theme from breath dark to breeze dark and checked the "use desktop layout from theme". That is when I was no longer able to get the screen edge settings to launch any application launcher. I have duplicated this by creating several different users. What I have observed is if changing global themes with the "use desktop layout from theme" checked, that user is no longer able to use a screen edge to launch any application launcher. All of the other screen edge settings function normally. the only way I have found is to delete the user and create another. No combination of settings gets the screen edge applications launcher back after selecting to use the desktop layout from theme. Might this be a bug??

Just as an FYI for those here......

Thanks to someone in the Majo forum I was provided a solution. For the app launcher to work with screen edges it must have an assigned keyboard shortcut. this is found by right click on the app launcher icon in the panel...and selecting "Configure application dashboard"... second down on the left is Keyboard Shortcuts. If there is no keyboard shortcut entered then the screen edge selection will not activate the application launcher. I used Meta+F1. After entering that the application launcher (or dashboard) is activated by touching whichever screen edge you have selected for that. In my fooling around with appearance settings this may have karked up this setting because when I entered the configure application dashboard/keyboard shortcuts there was no shortcut present. Before I fooled with appearance settings it worked.
Hope this helps someone who experiences the same problem I had.
