I use konsole for connecting to various servers throughout the day. I open up a tab per server and by the end of the day I might have 20 or 30 tabs open in a konsole session. Later when I want to find a specific server again I have to shift-arrow between the sessions because the tab sizes are so short to show complete names, plus all those tabs require scrolling.
I was wondering if there was a way to search for a tab. Say ctrl-shif-f drupal would find a tab name with the content of "drupal" (a name of a server). Also, how to people manange having lots of konsole tabs open? Or am I the only one to work like this? Thanks all! |

Myself, I have had at maximum perhaps 6 tabs in Konsole.
Unfortunately as far as I can tell, there is convenient function to switch to a given tab.

Well, Konsole currently does not have the feature of switching to tab by searching its name.
It seems your problem origins from having too many tabs(20~30) in one Konsole window. I myself usually do not open more than 8 tabs. There are some ways to work around the "too may tabs" problem. You can drag and organize tabs according to their relevance into multiple Konsole windows . That makes each window have enough plae for showing full tab name, and you can use the "Switch to Tab N" action/shortcut to switch to tab by its position. You can also use the bookmark to save and organize your ssh connection in different bookmark folders, and use the "Open Folder in Tabs" action to open those connections in different window. |

Okay. With a recent ssh and controlmaster sockets, it is really convenient to manage lots of servers by keeping a billion tabs open.
I guess I'll file a wishlist bug. Thanks! |
